Itinerary

Begin your culinary adventure at a former beer garden in Over the Rhine. This historic space has been transformed into an urban oasis combining a modern craft brewery and a farm-to-table restaurant. Enjoy a serving of their delicious stuffed French Toast!
Next, enjoy an authentic Argentinean empanada. Stroll a few blocks north for a cheesy crispy piece of a Detroit-style pizza.
Next take a short streetcar ride to Findlay Market, the oldest urban outdoor market in Ohio. Visit a German Butcher shop that serves the best German goetta in Cincinnati. Walk through the market enjoying a sample of cheese and fudge and end with dessert at a very unique bakery that is sure to please your sweet tooth.

Over the Rhine is one of the oldest neighborhoods in downtown Cincinnati. It has a European appearance due to the huge influx of German immigrants in the mid-1800s. On this tour, you will hear the story of the immigrants, their love of lager beer, and their customs that still influence us today. The rise and fall of this urban neighborhood, as well as the rebirth is a fascinating story. Historic Over-the-Rhine features a large number of unique shops, restaurants, bars and beautiful Italianate architecture.

This tour features less than a mile of walking. We walk to the first three restaurants in historic Over the Rhine. The distance is 3 to 4 city blocks from restaurant to restaurant. We hop on the streetcar for a short ride to Findlay Market for the second half of the tour.
Enjoy browsing the Market after the tour concludes. It's a short walk back to the meeting spot

Frequently asked questions

Wear casual, weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes. Bring an umbrella if needed, a water bottle for hydration in warm weather, and cash for gratuities or small purchases.
We welcome families with children on all our tours! Since it depends on the child’s age and attention span, we leave it to the parents to decide whether a 3-hour walking/streetcar tour is appropriate for their child. In our experience, children 10 and older, interested in history will enjoy the tour. Children five years and younger are free, but do not receive any food. Parents may share or bring snacks. The streetcar is stroller-friendly. Children ages six and older require a ticket.
The streetcar is accessible, but a few restaurants may require a step up to enter. Due to the distance of the tour, we recommend a motorized wheelchair or scooter. We walk less than a mile in addition to riding the free streetcar.
