A food tour is like a progressive meal. Each tour varies, but by the end, it is equivalent to a meal. We take pride in providing generous portions, so no one leaves hungry. Our Bourbon and Cocktail Beverage tours focuses on drinks served with light bites. We suggest planning for a light meal afterward.

Are your tours suitable for children?

The Cincinnati Top 10 Sites and Bites City Tour is best for families with children. The tastings are quick and easy, and the tour is fast-paced, stroller and budget-friendly. We welcome families with children on all our tours! For the other tours, it depends on the child’s age and attention span, so we leave it to parents to decide whether a 3-hour walking/streetcar tour is appropriate for their child. In our experience, children 10 and older who are interested in history enjoy the tour. Children five years and younger are free, but do not receive any food. Parents may share or bring snacks. Children ages six and older require a ticket.

What is the cancellation policy?

Plans change — we get it! We offer two ticket options to give you flexibility: Refundable Ticket Includes a $5 fee and is designed to give you peace of mind. You can cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your tour for a full refund minus the ticket fees, so you feel supported. To make changes, call or text 513-289-0035. After the 24-hour window, tickets are non-refundable. Standard Ticket This option does not include refunds or exchanges, which helps set clear expectations and avoid misunderstandings.

Are tours given in bad weather?

Tours take place rain or shine, and in hot or cold weather. The good news is that we’re indoors about 70% of the time, so you’ll stay comfortable for most of the experience. If the weather isn’t ideal, we do our best to minimize time spent outside. We recommend dressing appropriately for the forecast. In the rare case of severe or dangerous weather, we’ll contact you in advance by text or email to keep you informed and ensure your safety.

Story

Riverside Food Tours launched in the spring of 2016, founded by Mike and Laura, a couple with a deep love for the tri-state area. The first tour was a Saturday morning tour in Mainstrasse Village, a quaint German neighborhood in Covington KY. When Cincinnati OH installed a new streetcar in the fall of 2016, the couple saw the potential of a ‘Streetcar Tour’ and developed a morning tour, followed by an afternoon tour, gliding through downtown from the Banks to Findlay Market. An evening wine tour, a cocktail tour, an ethnic tour and more ensued. For Mike and Laura, the most satisfying aspect of owning a food tour company is being able to support other small businesses. The couple have a deep connection to the food community. They are grateful to partner with over 70 local businesses and employ a team of eight talented guides. The couple feels it is incredibly rewarding to know that every guest leaves with a lasting positive impression and an unforgettable connection, not just to the tour but also to the city itself. Do I need to book in advance? Yes, we recommend booking in advance to secure your spot, as our tours can fill up quickly. What happens after I make my online booking? You will receive an e-mail containing booking details, directions and meeting point information. It is not necessary to print the ticket as long as you received an email confirmation. Can I just arrive and pay? Walk up or cash sales are not accepted. Can I get on a waiting list if the tour is sold out? Yes, if the tour is sold out, you can add your name to the wait list. Are gift certificates available? Yes, a food tour gift certificate makes a wonderful “Gift of Experience” for those who are hard to buy for or simply don’t need any more stuff! For information on Gift Certificates, click HERE. What is your cancellation policy? Refundable Ticket: This ticket can be refunded up to 24 hours before the tour. Where does the tour begin and end? The tours begins and ends at the same spot. Check each tour description for its specific meeting location. A waiver to sign? Why? We require that upon purchase of a ticket, a waiver must be signed. It’s standard in the industry and very straightforward. We sometimes take photos of our guests to use on our website. Yes, the tasting locations have restrooms available. Is there a lot of walking or steps? We walk a little, stop, sit and taste over the course of 3 hours. Each tour varies in distance from less than one mile on the Mainstrasse Village tour versus 2.5 miles on The Cincy Top 10 Sites and Bites City Tour + Streetcar. To see the walking distance, check the description for each specific tour. Are tours given in bad weather? Yes, tours are given in rain, shine, hot or cold weather. Normally, we are inside 70% of the time. In the event of bad weather, we will limit the outside time as much as possible. Nevertheless, please dress appropriately. In the event of life threatening weather, we would text or email you beforehand if the tour had to be canceled, rescheduled or refunded. Is the tour wheelchair or stroller accessible? The Cincinnati Streetcar Food Tour + Findlay Market is best suited for wheelchair accessibility. Please note: the tours may involve walking 4 city blocks from restaurant to restaurant. A motorized chair is recommended. How should I dress? Dress casual, wear layers and comfortable shoes. Are pets allowed on the tour? No, due to the comfort of the other guests, we are sorry but we cannot allow pets. How long does the tour run for? The time for the tour varies from 2 – 3.5 hours depending on the tour you choose. No, this is a cultural walking tour as well as a food tour. We share local history, old photos, we point out the beautiful architecture and familiarize you with the neighborhood or city. All the tours are distinct with different history and restaurant tastings. Many of our guests enjoy the first food and culture tour so much that they try all! How much food is served on the tour? Each restaurant serves one or more menu items that they are known for. The servings are ample. We have never had a guest depart from the tour hungry. On the contrary, many guests leave with their left over tastings in a carry out container! Is alcohol served? The Wine and Dine, Cocktail Tour, Mainstrasse Tour and Roebling Tour include at least one tasting of alcohol. On any tour, guests may purchase alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages. Can you accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies? We try our best to accommodate dietary needs, but we cannot guarantee it at every stop. Do I need to purchase a ticket if I’m not eating? Yes, each guest must purchase a ticket whether they plan to participate in the food tastings or not. Unfortunately, without a ticket, you will not be allowed to join us on the tour. Tastings are not allowed to be split or shared between two people for the price of one ticket. Release of Liability : Participant waives and releases the Company and its affiliates from any and all claims, damages, or losses arising from participation, including those caused by negligence, food allergies, or other risks. Entire Agreement : This waiver is the entire agreement between Participant and the Company, superseding any prior agreements, and can only be modified in writing. The tour includes one mile of walking over three hours! If walking is a challenge, we advise against this tour. We walk, stop, eat, and repeat. This walking/streetcar tour is designed to see as much as possible in 3 hours. If you prefer a less strenuous tour, choose the Cincinnati Streetcar Tour or the Findlay Market tour.

Should I eat breakfast before the tour?

If you're an early riser, a light breakfast is fine. Keep in mind, we begin with a full-size handheld waffle at Taste of Belgium and German goetta, followed by a chili cheese coney at our next stop. You want to save room for Cincinnati's favorites!

Should I tip my tour guide?

Our guides truly value your appreciation. Most guests tip their tour guides 10-20% to recognize their effort. Your tour price includes a 20% gratuity for restaurant staff, but not for your guide. Guides accept cash and Venmo, and a 5-star review mentioning them by name is a meaningful way to show gratitude.

Are tours given in bad weather?

Yes, we host tours rain or shine, in hot or cold weather. We are typically indoors about 70% of the time. In poor weather, we limit outdoor time as much as possible. Please dress appropriately for the conditions. In the event of life-threatening weather, we will contact you by text or email in advance if we need to cancel or reschedule the tour.

Is the tour handicapped accessible?

Yes, the streetcar is accessible, but because of the tour's distance, we recommend a motorized wheelchair or scooter. We walk a mile in addition to riding the free streetcar.

How much walking is on the Streetcar Tour?

We walk less than half a mile over three hours. The first half of the tour takes place in downtown Cincinnati near the Fountain Square District. We walk a few blocks from one restaurant to the next. Next, we ride twelve blocks north to Findlay Market. The second half of the tour takes place in and around the Market. The walking is minimal. Tables and chairs are available inside and outside the market, if needed. The Streetcar Food Tour does require walking, but at a slower pace and in smaller amounts than the morning Cincinnati Top 10 Tour.

Are there vegan options?

3. Ride the Streetcar to historic Over-the-Rhine

Over-the-Rhine, often abbreviated as OTR, is a historic neighborhood located just north of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. It is recognized as one of the largest and most intact urban historic districts in the United States, featuring a rich architectural heritage primarily from the 19th century. Your tour guide will entertain and inform you with the history of the German immigrants who settled this area in the 1800's.

4. Visit Revel Urban Winery

Enjoy a glass of award-winning wine at the Revel Urban Winery. Revel is a boutique urban winery, that specializes in handcrafted small batch wines including their Sangiovese and Sauvignon Blanc Blend. Findlay Market Mini-Tours are for groups on a tight schedule and budget. On a mini-market tour, we stroll through the market, share the history, and enjoy five tastings for a light brunch or lunch. Tours are available Tues – Friday for groups of 10-30 guests. The cost is $49 per person for 5 tastings on a 1-1.5 hour tour.

1. Start at Fountain Square

From Thanksgiving to Christmas, it’s Downtown Dazzle time in Cincinnati and what better way to see and taste your way through the city than on a Riverside Food Tour! We gather at 12:45pm on Fountain Square in front of the Tyler Davidson Fountain. Come early or stay after if you want to join in the fun on the ice-skating rink!

2. Take a Streetcar Ride Through 3 Neighborhoods

Enjoy gliding through town on the Cincinnati Connector. It's warm and cozy as we ride by festive shops and city parks decorated for the season.

3. Visit 7 Local Eateries

This is a tasting tour around the world! First, we’ll enjoy a Cincinnati favorite, a dish to warm you up! Did you know chili was brought to Cincinnati by the Greek immigrants from Macedonia? Next, step inside a Scottish Pub, and enjoy hearty pot roast, gourmet mac and cheese and a Scottish ale. Enjoy a ride on the streetcar through Over the Rhine and enjoy four more treats at historic Findlay Market. We’ll sample Argentine empanadas, a Belgian waffle, festive cheese, fudge, and a Polish pierogi. We'll return to Fountain Square for our final treat at Graeter's Ice Cream.

Will the tour be cancelled in case of snow?

No, tours are given in rain, shine, hot or cold weather. Normally, we are inside 70% of the time. In the event of bad weather, we will limit the outside time as much as possible. Nevertheless, please dress appropriately. In the event of a snow emergency, we would text or email you beforehand if the tour had to be canceled, rescheduled or refunded.

How much food is included on the tour?

We include seven food stops on this progressive dining tour. Four of the stops are hearty, savory foods and three stops provide lighter tastings, such as a whole Belgian waffle, cheese, fudge and ice cream. Come hungry!

Is there a lot of walking or steps?

We walk a little, stop, sit, and taste over the course of 3 hours. The Christmas Streetcar Tour involves walking 15 minutes from the first restaurant to the streetcar. At Findlay Market, we walk from store to store. There are chairs to sit and rest. The total amount of walking is less than half a mile over 3 hours.

Is the tour suitable for children?

We welcome families with children on all our tours! In our experience, children 10 and older, interested in history will enjoy the tour. Children five years and younger are free, but do not receive any food. Parents may share or bring snacks. The streetcar is stroller-friendly. Children ages six and older require a ticket. Since it depends on the child’s age and attention span, we leave it to the parents to decide whether a 3-hour walking/streetcar tour is appropriate for their child.

Our family just returned home from a trip to Cincinnati. I highly recommend the Cincy Top 10 tour! Our tour guide, David, was very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend this tour! 4 couples (almost all of us over 70) took this walking food tour while visiting Cincinnati. Gibbs Cheese Shop in Findlay market had delicious lemon iced tea fudge & champagne cheddar from western NY, both were my favorites of the tour. The Cincinnati style chili on the Coney dog and the lavender white chocolate samples at Maverick were also delicious. Jackie, out tour guide deserves a 5 star rating for her enthusiasm & knowledge of the history surrounding the German influence on food & housing. I never heard the importance of the canals in moving goods to the rivers. Jackie had an abundance of energy and her passion for her hometown was evident. I highly recommend booking a tour with this company and with Jackie specifically.

We had a great experience on our food tour earlier today with our guide, David. I’ve been visiting Cincinnati to see friends and family for years, but have never done a tour before?! Loved the history and anecdotes about the city, neighborhoods, sights and restaurants. I was especially impressed by David’s knowledge of Cincy and his very open style of imparting the information—questions were encouraged and we all loved sampling the food downtown and in OTR. What a great tour! Laura does a great job of introducing you to the 10 or so places on the tour. She also gives an enormous amount of context to Findlay Market in its history and development as well as the whole of the Over The Rhine area. Her presentation includes information of different stores that you don't actually visit on the tour. Eat a light breakfast...you will be hard pressed to eat everything you are given!

Adrienne had so much to share about the history of OTR. She was very friendly and personable and made sure everything went perfectly. We have done these food tours in Cincinnati for a number of years. This last one was my favorite. We were mainly in the OTR area and Findley Market. Laura Noyes outdid herself again. Great stops, great authentic food to eat, and now new places to return as the food was so good. We even had Belgian Waffles, great fudge, and outstanding gelato. That was on top of breakfast sandwiches with Guetta and cheese and egg! So many great eats and I’d highly recommend any of the Riverside food tours. We will go again and that’s the best endorsement I can give!!

This was a wonderful tour! This was our first trip to Cincinnati, and we didn’t know much about the city at all. My family and I took the “Sites and Bites” tour on our first trip to Cincinnati and we all enjoyed it very much. I knew very little about the city going in, and our guide, David, did a wonderful job of showing us the sites as well as giving us interesting background and history about them. What an amazing experience! My husband and I did this tour for our anniversary, and it was the perfect way to celebrate while seeing our hometown from a whole new perspective.We started at the beautiful Netherland Plaza, where we enjoyed a delicious cheeseburger and fries, then headed to Nicholson's Scottish Tavern for authentic bangers and mash. Next was Mazunte Centro for incredible street tacos with chips and salsa before hopping on the streetcar to Over-the-Rhine.In Findlay Market, we treated ourselves to the banana pudding with bourbon caramel topping from Makers Bakers, sampled the champagne cheese and creamsicle fudge at Clare's Famous Fudge, and finished with award-winning chocolates at Maverick Chocolate. Every stop was unique and absolutely delicious!Our tour guide, Beth, truly made the experience unforgettable. She was warm, personable, incredibly knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about Cincinnati. Even though we've lived here our entire lives, we learned more about our city's history and hidden gems on this tour than we ever did in history class! 😉If you're a local or just visiting, this tour is an absolute must. David was our tour guide. We had a wonderful time! There was a music festival later the same day that had some roads closed so he messaged us ahead of time to make sure we knew and had a route to get to the meeting spot. We got to try so many delicious treats while learning some great history and facts about Cincinnati. I get pretty nervous in crowded places and David did great at making sure we were all together and prepared for the next stop. Waffles, cheese coneys, ice cream, cheese, fudge, and chocolate chip cookies were all part of the tour.

He did an amazing job introducing to Cincinnati, this is amazing tour to familiarize yourself with the area, enjoy the allure of the city, learn the rich history, and of course eat delicious food. My husband and I did this tour as part of a long weekend in the Cincinnati area. We had a great time on this tour! Mike was very knowledgeable about Covington and talked to us about our plans for our trip and offered suggestions of other places we might want to eat or visit while in the area after our tour was completed. The food was AMAZING! It was such a variety of bites, from chicken and Waffles to a local pizza. What a great afternoon we had with Juliann! She was a great guide and host! We started at Homemakers with a Bluebird - gin, lime, cucumber and sake. Strangely it worked and was yummy! Our next stop was Goodfellows for a Sunkist Sweetheart which was vodka, dragon fruit puree, peach schnapps and lime. This was my second fav. Third was Ghost Baby, a speak easy down four levels underground. My favorite destination of all the bars. That drink was an old fashioned. Our last stop was Sundry and Vine for a drink called Intimate Friends, which was goat cheese infused gin with Farleum (look it up!) Basil, cantaloupe and Helfire sryup. Again - the combo worked! If you are ever in Cincinnati, I highly recommend Riverside Food Tours!

Our guide, Jackie, was awesome! She clearly communicated our meeting place and we all gathered for a great experience in Cincy. We began, on foot, with Cincy chili at Sliver Ladle, then bangers and mash at Nicholson's, followed by tacos at Mazunte. We then hopped onto the streetcar for a trip to Over the Rhine. We sampled chocolates, Belgium waffles, cheese and fudge in Findlay's Market. You can't go wrong with this tour. Jackie knows her Cincy history and is a great storyteller. Our group was small (6) but engaging. Great activity for the mid-afternoon. The tour lasts a couple of hours and will assist you in getting the lay of the land.
