A lot! The amount of food varies by tour, but on most tours, you’ll enjoy tastings from 6 different stops—offering a wide variety so there’s something for everyone. Most guests leave feeling like they’ve had a full meal. On our Cocktail and Bourbon tours, the experience is more drink-focused, with expertly crafted beverages paired alongside light snacks.

How much food is served on the tour?

The Cincy Top 10 Sites and Bites City Tour + Streetcar is best suited for children. The tastings are quick and easy, and the tour is fast-paced, stroller and budget-friendly. We welcome families with children on all our tours! Regarding the other tours, it depends on the child’s age and attention span, so we leave it to the parents to decide if a 3-hour walking/streetcar tour is appropriate for their child. In our experience, children 10 and older, interested in history will enjoy the tour. Children five years and younger are free, but do not receive any food. Parents may share or bring snacks. The streetcar is stroller-friendly. Children ages six and older require a ticket.

Are your tours suitable for children?

Plans change — we get it! We offer two ticket options to give you flexibility: Refundable Ticket Includes a $5 fee, but gives you peace of mind. You can cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before your tour for a full refund. To make changes, simply call or text 513-289-0035. After the 24-hour window, tickets are non-refundable. Standard Ticket This option does not include refunds or exchanges.

What is the cancellation policy?

Yes—tours run rain or shine, hot or cold. The good news is that we’re indoors about 70% of the time, so you’ll stay comfortable for most of the experience. If the weather isn’t ideal, we do our best to minimize time spent outside. We recommend dressing appropriately for the forecast. In the rare case of severe or dangerous weather, we’ll contact you in advance by text or email if a tour needs to be canceled, rescheduled, or refunded.

MEET THE TEAM

Riverside Food Tours launched in the spring of 2016, founded by Mike and Laura, a couple with a deep love for the tri-state area. The first tour was a Saturday morning tour in Mainstrasse Village, a quaint German neighborhood in Covington KY. When Cincinnati OH installed a new streetcar in the fall of 2016, the couple saw the potential of a ‘Streetcar Tour’ and developed a morning tour, followed by an afternoon tour, gliding through downtown from the Banks to Findlay Market. An evening wine tour, a cocktail tour, an ethnic tour and more ensued. For Mike and Laura, the most satisfying aspect of owning a food tour company is being able to support other small businesses. The couple have a deep connection to the food community. They are grateful to partner with over 70 local businesses and employ a team of eight talented guides. The couple feels it is incredibly rewarding to know that every guest leaves with a lasting positive impression and an unforgettable connection, not just to the tour but also to the city itself. Do I need to book in advance? Yes, we recommend booking in advance to secure your spot, as our tours can fill up quickly. What happens after I make my online booking? You will receive an e-mail containing booking details, directions and meeting point information. It is not necessary to print the ticket as long as you received an email confirmation. Can I just arrive and pay? Walk up or cash sales are not accepted. Can I get on a waiting list if the tour is sold out? Yes, if the tour is sold out, you can add your name to the wait list. Are gift certificates available? Yes, a food tour gift certificate makes a wonderful “Gift of Experience” for those who are hard to buy for or simply don’t need any more stuff! Where does the tour begin and end? The tours begins and ends at the same spot. Check each tour description for its specific meeting location. A waiver to sign? Why? We require that upon purchase of a ticket, a waiver must be signed. It’s standard in the industry and very straightforward. We sometimes take photos of our guests to use on our website. It protects us if someone slips or trips or drinks too much alcohol. Speaking of alcohol, we require ID’s if you appear younger than 21. View our waiver HERE. Are restrooms available during the tour? Yes, the tasting locations have restrooms available. Is there a lot of walking or steps? We walk a little, stop, sit and taste over the course of 3 hours. Each tour varies in distance from less than one mile on the Mainstrasse Village tour versus 2.5 miles on The Cincy Top 10 Sites and Bites City Tour + Streetcar. To see the walking distance, check the description for each specific tour. Are tours given in bad weather? Yes, tours are given in rain, shine, hot or cold weather. Normally, we are inside 70% of the time. In the event of bad weather, we will limit the outside time as much as possible. Nevertheless, please dress appropriately. In the event of life threatening weather, we would text or email you beforehand if the tour had to be canceled, rescheduled or refunded. Is the tour wheelchair or stroller accessible? The Cincinnati Streetcar Food Tour + Findlay Market is best suited for wheelchair accessibility. Please note: the tours may involve walking 4 city blocks from restaurant to restaurant. A motorized chair is recommended. How should I dress? Dress casual, wear layers and comfortable shoes. Are pets allowed on the tour? No, due to the comfort of the other guests, we are sorry but we cannot allow pets. How long does the tour run for? The time for the tour varies from 2 – 3.5 hours depending on the tour you choose. Refer to the tour details for the tour you are interested in. Are cameras allowed? Yes, we love seeing photos of our guests enjoying the food and camaraderie on the tour. Feel free to share them on Facebook, Trip Advisor, Google or Instagram. All the accounts are under Riverside Food Tours. Is this just a food tour? No, this is a cultural walking tour as well as a food tour. We share local history, old photos, we point out the beautiful architecture and familiarize you with the neighborhood or city. All the tours are distinct with different history and restaurant tastings. Many of our guests enjoy the first food and culture tour so much that they try all! How much food is served on the tour? Each restaurant serves one or more menu items that they are known for. The servings are ample. We have never had a guest depart from the tour hungry. On the contrary, many guests leave with their left over tastings in a carry out container! Is alcohol served? The Wine and Dine, Cocktail Tour, Mainstrasse Tour and Roebling Tour include at least one tasting of alcohol. On any tour, guests may purchase alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages. Can you accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies? We try our best to accommodate dietary needs, but we cannot guarantee it at every stop. Please call or text 513-289-0035 in advance.Can I purchase alcoholic beverages on the tour? Yes, there are opportunities to purchase alcoholic beverages on all the tours. Do I need to purchase a ticket if I’m not eating? Yes, each guest must purchase a ticket whether they plan to participate in the food tastings or not. Unfortunately, without a ticket, you will not be allowed to join us on the tour. Tastings are not allowed to be split or shared between two people for the price of one ticket. I live in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area. I may have been to one or two of these restaurants. Is this tour worthwhile? Yes, while you may have visited the neighborhoods we tour, chances are you haven’t heard the history or tasted the variety of food we will be enjoying. The tours are great fun to share with friends and out of town guests!

Assumption of Risk : Participant acknowledges and accepts all risks associated with the Tours, including unfavorable weather, food-related illness, injury, or death, and participates at their own risk. Health and Responsibility : Participant affirms they are in good health, capable of participating, and assumes full responsibility for their actions, including consuming alcohol responsibly and complying with all applicable laws. Release of Liability : Participant waives and releases the Company and its affiliates from any and all claims, damages, or losses arising from participation, including those caused by negligence, food allergies, or other risks. Entire Agreement : This waiver is the entire agreement between Participant and the Company, superseding any prior agreements, and can only be modified in writing. By virtue of purchasing tickets for and/or participating in the food tasting and cultural walking tours offered by RIVERSIDE FOOD TOURS LLC (the “Company”), and in consideration of being allowed to purchase said tickets, and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is acknowledged, said purchaser/tour participant (the “Participant”) understands, acknowledges represents, warrants and agrees as follows, with the knowledge that the Company will rely on same: Participant desires to participate in the food tasting and cultural walking tours offered by the Company (the “Tours”). Participant is in good health and suffers from no minor or serious physical or mental injury, illness or disability that would make Participant especially susceptible to injury or disability while performing any activity contemplated by this Waiver and Release of Claims. The tour includes one mile of walking over three hours! If walking is a challenge, we advise against this tour. We walk, stop, eat, and repeat. This walking/streetcar tour is designed to see as much as possible in 3 hours. If you prefer a less strenuous tour, choose the Cincinnati Streetcar Tour or the Findlay Market tour.

Should I eat breakfast before the tour?

If you're an early riser, a light breakfast is fine. Keep in mind, we begin with a full-size handheld waffle at Taste of Belgium and German goetta, followed by a chili cheese coney at our next stop. You want to save room for Cincinnati's favorites!

Is the tour handicapped accessible?

Yes, the streetcar is accessible, but due to the distance of the tour, we recommend a motorized wheelchair or scooter. We walk a mile in addition to riding the free streetcar.

Is the tour suitable for children?

We welcome families with children on all our tours! Since it depends on the child’s age and attention span, we leave it to the parents to decide whether a 3-hour walking/streetcar tour is appropriate for their child. In our experience, children 10 and older, interested in history will enjoy the tour. Children five years and younger are free, but do not receive any food. Parents may share or bring snacks. The streetcar is stroller-friendly. Children ages six and older require a ticket.

Should I tip my tour guide?

Our guides greatly appreciate tips. Most guests tip their tour guides between 10-20%. Your tour price does include a 20% gratuity for the staff of our restaurant partners, but NOT for your tour guide. Another way to demonstrate your appreciation for a fantastic tour guide is by leaving a 5-star review that mentions them by name, which earns them a paid bonus.

Yes, the streetcar is accessible, but due to the distance of the tour, we recommend a motorized wheelchair or scooter. We walk .5 miles in addition to riding the free streetcar.

Why is there a booking fee?

The booking fee is set by our ticketing provider and applies to all bookings. It helps support the secure system we use to deliver a smooth, reliable booking experience for our guests.

Are tours cancelled due to bad weather?

Our tours run rain or shine, in hot or cold weather. Since about 70% of the tour takes place indoors, we limit outdoor time as much as possible during inclement weather. This is not a food tour. You’ll enjoy a few light bites during your tour, but we suggest that you eat a hearty lunch or snack before your tour and plan to go to dinner afterwards.

Should I eat breakfast before the tour?

If you are a hearty eater, a light breakfast is fine. We begin the tour at the first food stop, so we begin eating right away!

Should I tip my tour guide?

Our guides greatly appreciate tips. Most guests tip their tour guides between 10-20%. Your ticket includes a 20% gratuity for the Staff of our restaurant partners, but NOT for your tour guide. Another way to demonstrate your appreciation for a fantastic tour guide is by leaving a 5-star review that mentions them by name, which earns them a paid bonus.

Are children welcome?

We welcome families with children on all our tours! Since it depends on the child’s age and attention span, we leave it to the parents to decide whether a 2.5-3-hour walking tour is appropriate for their child. In our experience, children 10 and older, interested in history will enjoy the tour. Children five years and younger are free, but do not receive any food. Parents may share or bring snacks. Children ages six and older require a ticket.

How should I dress? What should I bring?

Wear casual, weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable shoes. Bring an umbrella if needed, a water bottle for hydration in warm weather, and cash for gratuities or small purchases.

Is the tour handicap accessible?

We walk less than one mile over the course of 3 hours. This tour is easy due to the level surfaces, tree-lined streets, and park benches. There may be a step up to the entrance, at a few of the restaurants.

What is the cancellation policy?

I don't care for alcohol, can I substitute a different beverage?

Yes, you may substitute a soft drink for the craft beer. Ice water is provided at all sit-down dining locations.

Are tours cancelled in bad weather?

Findlay Market Mini-Tours are for groups on a tight schedule and budget. On a mini-market tour, we stroll through the market, share the history, and enjoy five tastings for a light brunch or lunch. We had the MOST amazing time on our food tour. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and told us all the history of the city. She took us to the most amazing restaurants, especially Sotto, Nada, Baca! The pasta at Sotto was unbelievable. As was the enchiladas at Nada. I recommend adding the grapefruit margarita! The hop on the streetcar down to Findlay Market was such fun.
